The Wisdom and Witness of Howard Thurman presented by Otis Moss III

Overview

Description
Howard Thurman was an influential American author, Christian mystic, philosopher, theologian, pastor, educator, and civil rights activist. He co-founded the first major interracial, interdenominational church in the U.S.

Thurman’s theology of radical nonviolence shaped a generation of civil rights activists, including Martin Luther King, Jr., and continues to inspire people to work for justice and to be grounded in contemplative practice.

Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III will bring alive the person and witness of Thurman in this three-session Zoom series.

Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III is Senior Pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. He spent the last two decades practicing and preaching a Black theology that unapologetically calls attention to the problems of mass incarceration, environmental justice and economic inequality. Dr. Moss is part of a new generation of ministers committed to preaching a prophetic message of love and justice, which he believes are inseparable companions that form the foundation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dr. Moss is hailed by Baylor University as one of the twelve most effective preachers in the English-speaking world.
