Description
Icons are known as “windows to the sacred.” During this four-day retreat, participants will paint or “write” a traditional icon of Archangel Gabriel on a wooden board (11×15 inches). The icon will be gilded with technical gold leaf. Each participant will receive a board with an outline previously drawn on it. Iconographer Drazen Dupor will offer step by step instructions within the timeframe of the retreat. No prior experience in iconography is needed.

This retreat begins on Monday at 1:00pm and ends on Thursday at 5:00pm
The cost of this retreat is $570, which includes a non-refundable deposit of $95, overnight accommodations, meals, and supplies.

About the Facilitators

Drazen DuporDrazen Dupor

Facilitator Drazen Dupor is an artist and iconographer, specializing in Byzantine iconography. Born in Croatia, Drazen studied the art of icon painting in Thessalonica, Greece, at the K.N. Georgiadis School of Art. Since moving to the U.S. in 2003, Drazen has taught icon painting lessons in his studio and he frequently presents workshops for retreats, churches, and community groups. He accepts commissions for small and large icons, and he has painted large murals in numerous churches in the U.S. Drazen and his wife, Nives, make their home in Madison, WI.
