Singing in the Hildegarden
“Siena Retreat Center is a sacred place. I was blessed by the setting, the well-maintained grounds and building, the care and concern of the staff and volunteers, the delicious meals, and singing in the beautiful chapel. Thank you for sharing this wonderful haven where God's love and gifts are so apparent and abundant.”
When women sing together, we are invited to enter a sacred river of ancient womansong. It is a river of kindness and authenticity, strength, acceptance, compassion, wisdom, embodiment, beauty, gratitude, harmony, and possibility. It is a river of love.
With St. Hildegard as our powerful companion and guide, we will sing for healing and inspiration and to enrich our lives.
Some of the women in this group have been singing and deepening together in yearly retreat for as many as twelve years. Some might be coming for the first time. All are welcome in this warm, inviting gathering space and will be greeted with open arms and hearts. Singing together in this holy ancient way is really about connecting in the timeless place of heart and spirit. We have wise women of all ages, ranging from our 20s to our 80s, and all abilities and experiences. All have lived and learned and have wisdom to sing into the world.
Throughout the retreat, we will sing many beautiful songs of heart, including selections from Hildegardʼs music from the 1100s. We will also participate in creative practices designed to tap into higher wisdom and enrich our inner lives. We will connect to Mother Earth and allow the healing waters of Lake Michigan to increase our wonder. We will hug, laugh, dance, play, cry, and grow.
This year, for Saturday night’s supper, we will create our own “Viriditas Feast!” Viriditas is Hildegardʼs word for the greening power of love. Together we will prepare delicious healthy food, using her actual recipes to nourish ourselves, body and spirit.
Ask your intuitive heart and Hildegard if you are being called to sing and grow with us in this beautiful “Hildegarden!”
