Empathy: A Way Toward Peace

“When you show deep empathy toward others, their defensive energy goes down, and positive energy replaces it. That's when you can get more creative in solving problems. ”

- Stephen Covey

People have a basic need for connection, yet, in our society today, many people have become disconnected from themselves and alienated from each other.

During this retreat day, participants will be invited to reconnect and practice ways of giving and receiving empathy.  The day will include guided self-connection exercises, interactive presentations, sharing in dyads, and facilitated group discussions.  There will be a few interactive games thrown in as well.  Come prepared to participate in exploring a peaceful way of being!

Saturday, September 8, 2018
9:30am-3:30pm
Cost of $45 includes $10 non-refundable deposit and the noon meal.

Facilitator Linda Gaughan realizes that the only way to change how we communicate with others is to start with oneself and invite others on the journey.  Linda has studied and practiced the Nonviolent Communication approaches developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg for two years and coordinates Nonviolent Communication practice groups around Waukesha, Wisconsin.  With a master’s degree from St. Francis Seminary and a certificate from the Casa Romero Spiritual Mentoring Program, Linda is involved with the Social Justice Committee at her church and facilitates retreats for homeless women through the Ignatian Spirituality Project.
